Delbarton Small Cities Block Grant Funding Procured by Mingo Delegates

Charleston, WV - House of Delegates Finance Chairman Harry Keith White (D-Mingo) and his colleague Delegate Steve Kominar (D-Mingo), working with Governor Tomblin, are pleased to announce the acquisition of a $1.1 million Small Cities Block Grant (SCBG) award for the town of Delbarton, WV to assist in the completion of the Wastewater Collection and Treatment Replacement project. This announcement is part of over $15 million of SCBG funds that are being distributed with the help of the Governor’s office.

These funds are typically used to assist the development and completion of the critical infrastructure needed in smaller, more rural communities such as water, highway, wastewater and sewer projects.

“I am glad to help facilitate the awarding of this critical grant money for the Town of Delbarton,” said Delegate Kominar. “Clean, reliable water services are a staple of any community and is needed not only for quality of life and health issues but also to foster the economic development opportunities available in that community.”

Approximately 397 households, of which 76 are new customers, will benefit from this project to eliminate health issues. “It is critically important to me and my colleagues in the House of Delegates that we direct these types of grants to the communities in greatest need, both from a health standpoint and an economic development standpoint,” said Chairman White. “By working with the Governor’s office, we will continue to strive to provide clean water and reliable sewer services to my constituents and the citizens of Southern West Virginia.”
