Delegate Diserio Sworn In Today

CHARLESTON – Newly appointed Delegate Phillip Diserio of Brooke County was sworn in this morning by House Speaker Rick Thompson in the House of Delegates Chamber.

“Delegate Diserio brings to the House not only his decades of experience as an electrical worker and union representative, but also what he’s learned from serving on the West Virginia Parkways Authority, the Brooke County Economic Development and other community groups,” Speaker Thompson noted. “He’s energetic and inquisitive, and I am confident his constituents will be very well represented.”

A graduate of Brooke County High School, Diserio completed a four-year apprenticeship with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers where he has since been employed and served on the executive board for nine years. He is currently in his third term as President of the I.B.E.W. Local Union 246 and is the union's membership development coordinator. In addition, Diserio is currently Vice President of the Brooke County Economic Development Authority, sitting President of the Brooke-Hancock Central Labor Council, and sits on the Brooke-Hancock Planning and Development Council. He has served as a Commissioner of the West Virginia Parkways Authority since his appointment in 2010.

Diserio, a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Follansbee, resides with his wife, Sandra, in Follansbee, West Virginia. They have three children, Cassie (Cory), Carrissa, and Carlie; and two grandchildren Cory and Julianna.

“I am spending my first few days here at the Capitol meeting fellow legislators and learning the ropes,” Diserio said. “I look forward to representing the men and women of the 2nd District, and am ready to get to work.”
