A BILL to amend the Code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, by adding thereto a new section, designated §17-29-19, relating to banning convicted sex offenders from operating buses, limousines, amusement rides and taxicabs, including Uber/Lyft ride-sharing services.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:


ARTICLE 29. Transportation network companies.


§17-29-19. Registered Sex Offenders Prohibited from Certain Transportation Employment.


A person who is a registered sex offender in the State of West Virginia shall be prohibited from being able to:

(1)  Operate or offer to operate a bus;

(2)  Provide or offer to provide a passenger taxicab, including taxis, Uber/Lyft, or limousine transportation service;

(3)  Provide or offer to provide any type of service in the residence of another person; or

(4)  Operate or offer to operate any amusement ride.

NOTE: The purpose of this bill is to prohibit registered sex offenders from being able to operate buses, taxi cabs, ride-sharing services, limousines, and amusement rides.
