A BILL to amend and reenact §5B-2-4a of the Code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, relating to the state allocation of funding to regional councils; and eliminating the maximum state allocation allowed to each eligible regional council.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:

article 2. department of economic development.

§5B-2-4a. State allocation to regional councils.

 

The Department of Economic Development may enter into contractual agreements with the regional councils formed under §8-25-5 of this code to provide funding to the regional councils to be used to obtain federal matching grants and for other purposes determined to be appropriate by the department: The maximum state allocation to each eligible regional council shall be $40,000 Provided, That the amount of the any allocation shall be determined by dividing the number of eligible regional councils into the total amount of funds made available for allocation by the Legislature. The Department of Economic Development shall develop criteria to determine a regional council’s eligibility for the state allocation.
