Fiscal Note Summary
Effect this measure will have on costs and revenues of state government.
The purpose of this bill is to remove all fees for the initial issuance or renewal of a Navy Cross, Distinguished Service Cross, Air Force Cross, or Silver Star registration plate.
This bill eliminates a one-time fee of $10 and an annual fee of $50. There are 0 Navy Crosses, 12 Distinguished Service Crosses, 0 Air Force Crosses, and 52 Silver Star plates currently in existence. This Division estimates that this number will remain consistent with one new plate sold each year and one plate not renewing each year. Therefore, the Division estimates that revenue will decrease by $3,210 (($10 x 1 new plate per year) +($50 x 64)).
Initial expenses will consist of programming for the cash register and mainframe. The estimated cost to program the cash register is $4,600 (40 hrs. x $115). The estimated cost to program the mainframe is $2,700 (30 hrs. x $90). The average cost of a military plate is plate is $10.
