Fiscal Note Summary
Effect this measure will have on costs and revenues of state government.
Summarize in a clear and concise manner what impact this measure will have on costs and revenues of state government.
This bill provides clarification to the existing purchasing exemption for the Division of Natural Resources allowing the agency to solicit bids and award contracts for the repair, renovation and rehabilitation of aging facilities, buildings, amenities, and related infrastructure projects in a more efficient manner. The efficiencies gained will directly translate into shortened project timelines bringing revenue-generating facilities back online sooner. Examples of projects include fish hatchery renovations and improvements, State Park cabin and lodge building renovations and repairs, dam repairs, wastewater treatment facility upgrades and many other state-wide projects.
Once these projects are completed, the Division of Natural Resources will be more competitive in attracting additional revenues through greater recreational and tourism opportunities.
