Memorandum

This bill as written would have no cost to the state. This fiscal note does not include the cost associated with programs outside of the public school system such as preschools, private schools, and Head Start. Costs for required screenings not covered by insurance would be borne by parents or possibly the county school system. A vision screening is included in the HealthCheck that is provided to the county school system upon enrollment. Based on that screening, referrals are made to optometrists for a more comprehensive exam, as needed.
