Fiscal Note Summary
Effect this measure will have on costs and revenues of state government.
As it relates to PEIA, SB 3001 introduces new code section, WV Code §5-16-7h, related to requiring insurance coverage for specific sterilization procedures. Pursuant to this section, PEIA will be required to provide coverage, without prior authorization, for the cost of a tubal ligation procedure for female sterilization and vasectomy procedure for male sterilization.
PEIA’s current benefit provides coverage for both male and female sterilization procedures without prior authorization, and there will be no fiscal impact to PEIA if the proposed bill is passed.
