Fiscal Note Summary
Effect this measure will have on costs and revenues of state government.
The purpose of this bill is to provide a restricted license to licensees suspended under certain provisions and to require the licensee pay a fee for the issuance of a restricted license.
The bill establishes a new fee of $50 for a restricted driver’s license. The Division will incur programming costs of $1,500 for the cash register to accept the new fee. The Division will also incur programming costs for the mainframe to record the restricted license of $7,200. Total current expense of $8,700 ($1,500 + $7,200).
The Division has approximately 30,500 driver’s that would be eligible for the restricted license on an annual basis. It is estimated that 75%, or 22,875 (75% X 30,500), of the eligible drivers will take advantage of the restricted license. This produces annual revenue of $1,143,750 (22,875 X $50).
