Fiscal Note Summary
Effect this measure will have on costs and revenues of state government.
The purpose of this bill is to establish an apprenticeship to associate of applied science degree program within the Council for Community and Technical College Education. Once created, eligible students could earn up to 15 credit hours toward their associate of applied science degree. The cost of tuition and academic fees incurred by the eligible students will be paid to the public community and technical colleges offering the eligible courses. It is estimated that the cost to administer the program is approximately $90,000 and the cost of tuition and fees is approximately $950,000. Therefore, the total annual cost is approximately $1,034,000.

Explanation of above estimates (including long-range effect):
Costs are based on current community and technical college tuition and fees on a per credit hour basis, potential number of participants in the program and estimated credit hours per year taken by eligible students. It is also estimated that one new FTE would be required to administer the program.
