Effect this measure will have on costs and revenues of state government.
This bill would create a State Advisory Council to study the viability and benefits of creating a military college in West Virginia. It also establishes the State Advisory Council’s composition, responsibilities, areas of study and reporting requirements. After 3 years, the council would terminate on June 30, 2028. The estimated total annual cost is $293,500.

Explanation of above estimates (including long-range effect):
This bill requires the State Advisory Council to employ an executive director at an estimated cost for salary and benefits of $123,500. Approximately $150,000 would be needed to study the necessary issues related to the council’s purpose. Further, an additional $20,000 would be needed to reimburse the council members and executive director for all reasonable and necessary expenses incurred.
