Explanation of above estimates (including long-range effect):
The way the bill is written, the additional salary, plus benefits (FICA, Medicare & retirement) to each county that has a sheriff with past law enforcement experience will increase by more than $1000 each year.
 Memorandum
The legislation does not set a cap on the years of service each sheriff may claim.  Also, it does not specify what "prior law enforcement experience" would qualify.  Would air martial service count?  How would a county verify prior years of service?  Would a current sheriff be allowed to count the previous years of service as a sheriff?
