Effect this measure will have on costs and revenues of state government.
This bill would create the Unmatched Medical Graduate Advisory Council to examine the issue of medical school graduates who are not placed in a residency program. It also establishes the Unmatched Medical Graduate Advisory Council’s composition, responsibilities, areas of study and reporting requirements. The advisory council will prepare its report before December 31, 2025. The estimated total annual cost is $180,000. The Higher Education Policy Commission will provide reasonable administrative support for the advisory council to carry out its duties and finance any costs of the advisory council as the proposed bill language states; however, this may impact the funding and outcomes of other HEPC programs provided.

Explanation of above estimates (including long-range effect):
This bill requires the Unmatched Medical Graduate Council to study and report its recommendations and possible options related to the council's purpose. Approximately $150,000 would be needed to study the necessary issues. Further, an additional $30,000 would be needed to conduct monthly meetings for reasonable and necessary expenses incurred.
