Fiscal Note Summary

Effect this measure will have on costs and revenues of state government.

Summarize in a clear and concise manner what impact this measure will have on costs and revenues of state government. While the compact will require funding to support a delegate serving on the commission and to conduct background checks for participating individuals (if the responsibility of the member state), these expenses can be offset through appropriately structured fees. As a result, the overall fiscal impact may balance out.

2. Estimated Total Revenues 0 780 1,380

Explanation of above estimates (including long-range effect):

Please explain increases and decreases in personal services, current expenses, repairs and alterations, assets, other costs and revenues, including assumptions and data sources and delineation between start-up and ongoing costs. Please also include a long-range schedule of costs and revenues if fiscal impact is expected to vary in future years. This is only an example: The cost of a background check is approximately $32.50 per person. If 40 dietitians choose to join the compact once it is fully implemented, the total background‑check expense would be about $1,300. The estimated cost for the Board’s delegate is an additional $180. If the Board sets a compact participation fee that covers both the background‑check cost and the delegate expense, the compact’s implementation should be fiscally neutral by the end of the year.
