Fiscal Note Summary

Effect this measure will have on costs and revenues of state government.

This proposed legislation creates the heart health program for all students enrolled in public schools in grades 3-6 by requiring participation in nutrition and aerobic exercise classes for 12 weeks straight. In its current form, this legislation does not have any fiscal impact on the West Virginia Board of Education or the West Virginia Department of Education; however, there could be a cost to each county/school for the nationally accepted nutrition and aerobic exercise program. Please note the cost per county could be approximately $3,000 per year for our smallest county and $82,000 per year for our largest county.
