Fiscal Note Summary

Effect this measure will have on costs and revenues of state government.

This proposed legislation eliminates standardized testing requirements in West Virginia public and private schools. While this legislation would save approximately $7,157,000 in costs associated with standardized test assessments statewide, it would also negatively impact federal allocations that require statewide assessment systems. By removing the requirement, the State may be prohibited from receiving approximately $140,642,000 annually because it would no longer meet the criteria that requires a standardized assessment system.
