Explanation of above estimates (including long-range effect):
Historically, the community and technical college system has had about 350 students enrolled in paramedic science and emergency medical services. The program cost for each student is approximately $7,000. Based on prior year enrollment data, 17 students had a bachelor’s degree or higher who may get the full program cost in WV Invests award (17 x $7,000 = $119,000). 13 students had an associate degree who may get the average WV Invests award (13 x $4,294 = $55,822). The total estimated cost of implementation would be $174,822.
