This bill establishes the TechCred program, which would reimburse employers from appropriations made for that purpose for training costs for prospective and incumbent employees to earn a microcredential. The WV Office of Economic Development, in consultation with the Governor's office and WVHEPC, shall develop the program.

The cost included above is only that for hiring a consultant during the initial development phase where programs are identified, and for the cost of updating and maintaining the list of eligible programs. This estimate only represents the cost associated with the Higher Education Policy Commission. Additional costs to the Department of Commerce may be associated with this bill.
