Fiscal Note Summary
Effect this measure will have on costs and revenues of state government.
The purpose of this bill is to provide a waiver of tuition and fees at state institutions of higher education and community and technical colleges for resident military veterans, their spouses, and dependents, when that veteran has a 90% or greater service-related disability. The Higher Education Policy Commission and Community and Technical College Council cannot quantify the number of students who would potentially qualify under these specific criteria. We do not expect this bill to have a significant fiscal impact that would require additional state appropriations; however, individual institutions could have impact dependent on the number of qualifying students.
