Explanation of above estimates (including long-range effect):
This legislation would increase the salaries of all elected county officials. The salary increases would also result in increased FICA, WC, and retirement contributions.
The increases would vary from county to county based on county classification. The amount of the cost would also depend on which, if any, county official requested the salary increase, and if the State Auditor certified that the county was fiscally able to absorb the increase.
The amount above is the amount of increase if ALL county officials in a Class 1 county requested the increase. As previously stated, the amount would vary from county to county based on classification.
