Effect this measure will have on costs and revenues of state government.
The purpose of this bill is to require Bureau of Medical Services to verify and remove deceased Medicaid enrollees; the bill requires data matches with official death records; mandates the termination of eligibility upon proof of an enrollee's death; authorizes data-sharing agreements and annual audits; requires an annual report to the Legislature; and provides an effective date.
No additional resources are needed for the Department of Health as data sharing between the Department's Office of Vital Statistics and the Department of Human Services, Bureau for Medical Services is already being provided, therefore there is no fiscal impact related to this legislation.
This Fiscal Note does not reflect any impact to the Office of the Inspector General.
