This legislation, in its current form, establishes and expands a coordinated, statewide Healthy Lifestyles framework to promote nutrition, physical activity, and wellness through cross-agency collaboration, school-based initiatives, public-private partnerships, grants, and reporting requirements to improve the health of West Virginians.
As it relates to the West Virginia Department of Education (WVDE), this proposed legislation does not have any additional fiscal impact because the WVDE already collects the required data and is currently participating in the Farm to School Initiative through grant funding.
