Explanation of above estimates (including long-range effect):

This legislation, which requires panic buttons for staff in all schools, is based on a total of 689 public school locations, including charter schools, career centers, and alternative education sites. Using cost estimates provided by county boards that have already implemented compliant systems, the projected initial setup cost is $16,500 per school, followed by $8,600 per school in recurring annual expenses. Statewide, this equates to a total initial cost of $11,368,500 and an ongoing yearly cost of $5,925,400.
