This piece of proposed legislation provides for a $3,000 per person pay increase for sworn members of the West Virginia State Police. The total fiscal impact for this legislation for FY 2026 is $2,443,820 and an impact of $2,701,711 when the State Police is fully staffed.

Please explain increases and decreases in personal services, current expenses, repairs and alterations, assets, other costs and revenues, including assumptions and data sources and delineation between start-up and ongoing costs. Please also include a long-range schedule of costs and revenues if fiscal impact is expected to vary in future years. The above estimate represents a $3,000 pay increase for sworn members whose salaries are established in code. Calculations for 597 uniformed members include 45 cadets scheduled to begin employment on March 24, 2025.
