What we can calculate is the additional cost of the increased incarceration period. 2nd degree murder Current Daily Rate for Prisons is $132.74 from 10 to 15 years would be $242,250.50 on the front end. Increase from 40 to 60 years would be $484,501 per conviction This could result in a total increase of $726,751.5 per conviction Voluntary Manslaughter Current Daily Rate for Prisons $132.74 Increase from 3 to 5 years would be $96,900.20 on the front end.
