Effect this measure will have on costs and revenues of state government.
The purpose of this bill is to require the Division of Motor Vehicles to provide an identification card for eligible released inmates.
There are approximately 37,734 prisoners released each year in WV. These individuals would no longer be charged $25.00 for a State ID. State IDs are issued for 5 years, charging $5 per year for $25 total. Total annual revenue reduction of $943,350 (37,734 X $25)
