Effect this measure will have on costs and revenues of state government.
This proposed legislation transfers all childcare services from the Department of Human Services from the Department of Human Services (DHS) to the West Virginia Department of Education (WVDE) to implement Early Childhood Education Centers. This legislation will have a fiscal impact on the WVDE; however, the WVDE lacks the data necessary to calculate an accurate cost estimate, but believes that it would cost, at a minimum, the amount currently expended by the DHS.
