Fiscal Note Summary
Effect this measure will have on costs and revenues of state government.
SB 610, if enacted, would provide for tuition and fee waivers at state institutions of higher education for volunteers who have completed service in West Virginia in AmeriCorps programs. The waivers are for up to eight semesters of undergraduate or graduate study, combined, proportionate to the time served in AmeriCorps.
The proposed legislation would permit higher education governing boards to establish any limitations on the provisions as they consider proper, including cost constraints. Consequently, no additional appropriations would be required from the enactment of this bill.
