Fiscal Note Summary

Effect this measure will have on costs and revenues of state government.

The purpose of this bill is to increase the required medical coverage from various providers relating to autism spectrum disorders. This bill will increase costs for PEIA. Currently, PEIA spends approximately $459,000 per year for applied behavior analysis in treatment of autism. Approximately 4.4 cases per year appear to reach the current maximum benefit. Assuming all autism patients currently utilizing the maximum benefit allowance continue with the additional benefit allowance, PEIA anticipates an increase of $243,000 per fiscal year.
