Fiscal Note Summary
Effect this measure will have on costs and revenues of state government.
The purpose of the proposed legislation is to require West Virginia hunters who harvest a black bear to purchase a second bear damage stamp prior to pursuing a second black bear.
We anticipate that approximately 603 hunters per year will avail themselves of opportunity to hunt a second bear. This will generate an extra $6,030 in revenue for the Bear Damage Stamp fund which by law must be used to pay bear damage claims or be used to further research of black bear populations.
