Effect this measure will have on costs and revenues of state government.
The purpose of proposed House Bill 2336 is to require all local entities of the State of West Virginia to enforce immigration laws. The proposed Bill provides for a complaint procedure and notice provided to the entity out of compliance with the article. The Bill also establishes actions to be taken against a local entity, if the entity does not come into compliance within 90 days of receiving notice. The Bill permits the denial of funds resulting from any final judicial determination a local entity violated the article. The Bill also establishes rule-making authority with the State Auditor in regard to the denial of State funds.

Explanation of above estimates (including long-range effect):
After examining the requirements of the proposed legislation, the State Auditor’s Office believes all required actions affecting this Office which would be necessary to effectuate the provisions of the proposed Bill can be carried out as a part of the everyday duties of the Office resulting in no additional costs to the taxpayers.
