Fiscal Note Summary
Effect this measure will have on costs and revenues of state government.
The purpose of this bill is to provide that the surcharge for fire and casualty insurance policies be used solely for volunteer fire departments; and to delete obsolete language.
WV Code ยง33-3-33 currently states, after June 30, 2005, the surcharge shall be distributed by the Commissioner at one half of the money received to volunteer fire departments and the remaining shall be transferred to the State Treasury of the Public Employees Insurance Agency (PEIA), until November 1, 2005. This language will be removed if the bill passes, and there will be no fiscal impact to PEIA.
