Fiscal Note Summary
Effect this measure will have on costs and revenues of state government.
HB2764 revises section 6-7-2 of article 7 to increase the Commissioner of Agriculture's salary to $140,000 a year beginning in calendar year 2025, an increase of $45,000 from the current salary. This would require an additional general revenue appropriation in 0131-1400-00100 to fund the increased cost. The below estimates and memorandum are prepared only for the impact the bill would have on the Department of Agriculture and not other constitutional offices.

Explanation of above estimates (including long-range effect):
As the salary increase would be effective in calendar year 2025, there will not be any estimated FY2023 or FY2024 increased costs. FY2025 increased costs are estimated at $22,500 ($45,000 divided by half a fiscal year), and $45,000 upon full implementation. This annual cost would require an additional general revenue appropriation.
There will not be any effect on revenue.
