Effect this measure will have on costs and revenues of state government.
HB2518 increases the percentage of fresh food from in-state producers that must be purchased by state-funded institutions from 5% to 10% in 2025, 15% in 2027, 20% in 2029 and 25% in 2032. It also authorizes the Commissioner of Agriculture to petition for a writ of mandamus against institutions in violation of this article.
Costs related to this bill cannot be estimated at this time. There would not be any changes to revenue.

Explanation of above estimates (including long-range effect):
Costs related to the increased percentages required to be purchased from in-state producers cannot be estimated at this time, partially due to low response rate (20%) from state-funded institutions. It would be anticipated that some in-state fresh food might be more expensive than out-of-state alternatives.
There is not revenue associated with the Fresh Food Act so changes to revenue would be $0.
