Explanation of above estimates (including long-range effect):

The bill would result in a increase of one FTE within the Division of Personnel. If this were a classified position it would be equivalent to a Personnel Specialist Senior, which is a pay grade 14. The pay range for this position is $29,000-$54,396. Based on the salaries of other employees with similar job responsibilities within the Division, the estimated salary would be $50,000 plus benefits. 33% is our estimate of benefits/expenses including Social Security, Medicare match, employer contribution to pension, employer costs for healthcare insurance and other current expenses on an annual basis. 28% would cover benefits and 5% would cover supplies equipment. Because the position would be within the Division of Personnel, they could provide clerical and administrative support to the position absorbing those costs from the Division’s current budget.

Memorandum

The bill is not clear as to how the position would be funded. Would it be general revenue or would the costs require the funding to come from the Division’s current special revenue funding.
