Fiscal Note Summary
Effect this measure will have on costs and revenues of state government.
The purpose of this bill is to require that all health care workers receive an influenza vaccination by October 1 every year.
This legislation would have a negative fiscal impact on the Department. Records show that there are currently 76 employees at the Department's Hospitals and Long Term Care Facilities that have refused the vaccine without exemption. As the bill is written, if the employees were not suspended the potential penalty cost for the Department could be $76,000 to $380,000 per pay period. If the employees were suspended the contract staffing costs would increase.
