The purpose of proposed House Bill 4031 is to increase the salaries of the Secretary of State, Auditor, State Treasurer and Attorney General to $125,000 per year.

Explanation of above estimates (including long-range effect):


We believe the enactment of the proposed legislation would result in an annual cost upon implementation of approximately $157,200 consisting of $120,000 in cumulative salary increases to the named Constitutional Officers and additional costs of $37,200 for related employee fringe benefits. However, since the provisions could not be effective until the commencement of next Term of Office for each of the affected Constitutional Officers, the provisions of the Bill would only be in effect for the last six months of Fiscal Year 2021 resulting in costs totaling $78,600 during Fiscal Year 2021.
