Senator Kenny Mann Appointed to Southern Regional Education Board Legislative Advisory Council

CHARLESTON – Gov. Jim Justice has appointed Senator Kenny Mann, R-Monroe, to the Southern Regional Education Board Legislative Advisory Council. Senator Mann serves as the chairman of the Senate Education Committee.

The Southern Regional Education Board is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization that works with states to on policy relating to public education. The Legislative Advisory Council is comprised of legislators from SREB’s 16 member states – Alabama, Arkansas, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, and West Virginia. The board meets throughout the year to discuss key issues that affect public education in their respective states.

Prior to becoming elected to the West Virginia Senate, Senator Mann served on the Monroe County Board of Education, and is an advocate for public education throughout West Virginia.

“I’m honored that Governor Justice has appointed me to represent West Virginia on the Southern Regional Education Board’s Legislative Advisory Council,” Senator Mann said. “I truly believe a strong educational system is a key to our state’s success, and I look forward to being able to not only learn from my fellow legislators on this board, but to also share the great work that we plan to accomplish here in West Virginia.”

House Education Chairman Paul Espinosa, R-Jefferson; Delegate Joe Statler, R-Monongalia, and Delegate Rick Moye, D-Raleigh, also were appointed to the board.
