Senator Paul Hardesty Announced Road Slip Contracts Have Been Awarded for Harts Creek in Logan County

LOGAN—State Senator Paul Hardesty (D – Logan) announced today that contracts have been awarded to repair dangerous road slips on six sections of roadway in the Harts Creek area of Logan County.

"I received numerous calls and complaints concerning the treacherous road conditions in the Harts Creek area,” said Hardesty. “I toured the area with District 2 to see the conditions for myself. If I had to sum up in one word the road conditions in some of those slip areas, it’s ‘deplorable.’"

The six areas where slip repair contracts have been issued are Smokehouse Road (two projects) and Buck Fork (four projects). There are six additional slip repair projects pending on upper Mud Fork and Harts Creek Road.

"I want to thank Governor Justice and the WVDOH for getting these contracts awarded," Hardesty stated. "The residents of Harts Creek have been dealing with these dangerous road conditions for far too long."

Scott Eplin, District Manager for District 2, agreed.

“These are long-awaited repairs,” he said. “We are happy to improve the safety of the traveling public.” Hardesty and Eplin said that initial repair work has started for the already-awarded contracts and additional projects should be underway shortly. "I will be in constant contact with District 2 on the timetables for these much-needed repair projects," promised Hardesty.

Eplin noted that all projects are on schedule to be finished in a timely manner.
