“Like all West Virginians, I was heartbroken to learn about the death of U.S. Army Spc. Sarah Beckstrom, who was so violently killed while serving her country in Washington, D.C. Sarah embodied the very best of what it means to be a citizen-soldier: selfless, courageous, and unwavering in the call to protect others.
The thoughts, prayers, and heartfelt gratitude of a grateful state and nation are with Sarah’s family today and in the difficult days ahead. Her legacy of service will never be forgotten.
