A BILL to repeal §27-16-1, §27-16-2, §27-16-3, §27-16-4 and §27-16- 5 of the Code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, relating to sterilization of mental defectives.
Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:
ARTICLE 16. STERILIZATION OF MENTAL DEFECTIVES.
§1. Repeal of article relating to sterilization of mental defectives.
    §27-16-1, §27-16-2, §27-16-3, §27-16-4 and §27-16-5 of the Code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, are hereby repealed.


    NOTE: The purpose of this bill is to repeal the article of the West Virginia Code that permits the sterilization of persons deemed to be mentally incompetent.

   This bill has been recommended for passage during the 2013 Regular Session by the Joint Committee on Health.
