A BILL to amend and reenact §5-14-4 of the code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, relating to correcting the statutory inconsistency of appointments to the commission for the deaf and hard-of-hearing in relation to the terms and number of appointees.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That §5-14-4 of the code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, be amended and reenacted to read as follows:
ARTICLE 14. WEST VIRGINIA COMMISSION FOR THE DEAF AND HARD-OF-HEARING.

§5-14-4. Terms of office; quorum.
Members of the commission who do not serve ex officio shall be appointed for the following terms: Three members shall be appointed for a term of three years; three for a term of two years; and one three for a term of one year. When a vacancy occurs, an appointment shall be made for the unexpired term. The members shall annually elect a chairman. A majority of the members constitutes a quorum for the transaction of business.

(NOTE: The purpose of this bill is to correct the statutory inconsistency of appointments to the commission for the deaf and hard-of-hearing relative to the terms of appointment and the number of appointees.
