A BILL to extend the time for the city council of Hurricane to meet as a levying body for the purpose of presenting to the voters of the city of Hurricane an election to continue an additional city levy to maintain the level of funding for maintenance and expenses for the street department and public safety police department from between the seventh and twenty-eighth days of March and the third Tuesday in April until the thirty-first day of May, two thousand five.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:

THE CITY COUNCIL OF HURRICANE MEETING AS A LEVYING BODY EXTENDED.

§1. Extending time for the city of Hurricane to meet as a levying body for election of additional levies to maintain the level of funding for maintenance and expenses for the street department and public safety police department.

Notwithstanding the provisions of article eight, chapter eleven of the Code of West Virginia, one thousand nine hundred thirty-one, as amended, to the contrary, the city council of Hurricane is hereby authorized to extend the time for its meeting as a levying body and certifying its actions to the State Auditor from between the seventh and twenty-eighth days of March and the third Tuesday in April until the thirty-first day of May, two thousand five, for the purpose of submitting to the voters of the city of Hurricane the continuation of an additional city levy to maintain the level of funding for the maintenance and expenses for the street department and public safety police department where necessary.



NOTE:
The purpose of this bill is to extend the time for the city of Hurricane to meet as a levying body.
