HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION 40

Referred to the Committee on Technology and Infrastructure then the Committee on Rules

 

Requesting the Division of Highways name Bridge Number: 41-001/00-004.14 () (41A261), (37.95885, -81.48386) locally known as DOROTHY BRIDGE, carrying CR 01 over CLEAR FORK in Raleigh County, the "USMC Larry Allen "Crocky" Holstein, Jr. Memorial Bridge".

Whereas, Larry Allen Holstein, Jr., known as "Crocky", was born on January 11, 1967, in Charleston, West Virginia to the late Larry A. Holstein, Sr. and Elizabeth Ann Holstein, and died unexpectedly on October 28, 2021; and

Whereas, Larry Allen Holstein, Jr. was a 1985 graduate of Clear Fork High School where he enjoyed playing football and spending time with friends. After high school, Holstein enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, where he served four years defending our freedom in Operation Desert Storm/Desert Shield, achieving the rank of E-4 Corporal; and

Whereas, After an honorable discharge from the Marines, Larry Allen Holstein, Jr. became a father to two amazing boys, Jonathan Trent and Chase Ryan, who were the greatest joys of his life. He also worked at various trucking companies, finally finding a home at Marfork Coal Company where he was employed as a heavy equipment transport driver and mobile equipment operator; and

Whereas, Larry Allen Holstein, Jr. was survived by the mother of his two sons, Chrissy, son Jonathan Cantley and wife Samantha, son PFC Chase Cantley, brothers Gregory Holstein and wife Heather and Jerrard Holstein and wife Jessica, as well as many other nieces, nephews, family and friends; and

Whereas, Larry Allen Holstein, Jr. was laid to rest in Blue Ridge Memorial Park in Prosperity, West Virginia; and

Whereas, It is fitting that an enduring memorial be established to commemorate Larry Allen "Crocky" Holstein, Jr. and his contributions to his community and the nation; therefore, be it

Resolved by the Legislature of West Virginia:

That the Division of Highways is hereby requested to name Bridge Number: 41-001/00-004.14 () (41A261), (37.95885, -81.48386) locally known as DOROTHY BRIDGE, carrying CR 01 over CLEAR FORK in Raleigh County, the "USMC Larry Allen "Crocky" Holstein, Jr. Memorial Bridge"; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the Division of Highways is hereby requested to have made and be placed signs identifying the bridge as the "USMC Larry Allen "Crocky" Holstein, Jr. Memorial Bridge"; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the Clerk of the House forward a copy of this resolution to the Commissioner of the Division of Highways.
