(By Senators Smith (Mr. President), Azinger, Barrett, Bartlett, Boley, Chapman, Charnock, Clements, Deeds, Fuller, Garcia, Grady, Hamilton, Hart, Helton, Jeffries, Martin, Maynard, Morris, Oliverio, Phillips, Queen, Roberts, Rose, Rucker, Smith, Stuart, Takubo, Tarr, Taylor, Thorne, Weld, Willis, Woelfel, and Woodrum)

Creating a Select Committee on Substance Use Disorder and Mental Health for the Eighty-Seventh Legislature.

Resolved by the Senate:

That for the Eighty-Seventh Legislature there is hereby created a Select Committee on Substance Use Disorder and Mental Health.  This committee shall consist of six members appointed by the Presiding Officer. Notwithstanding the provisions of any Senate rule to the contrary, this committee shall have jurisdiction of legislative proposals on substance use disorder and mental health, as well as related matters. The rules of the Senate governing standing committees shall govern the actions and proceedings of this committee insofar as applicable, and be it

Further Resolved, That the Senate hereby authorizes the Select Committee on Substance Use Disorder and Mental Health to meet and be paid during interims between regular sessions of the Eighty-Seventh Legislature; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the Select Committee on Substance Use Disorder and Mental Health is hereby authorized to meet at times subject to the approval of the presiding officer of the Senate; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the purpose of any such meetings would relate to gathering information regarding prevention, treatment, and research of substance use disorders and mental health issues, including, but not limited to, substance use disorder policies, mental health policies, policies regarding access to care, treatment programs, and funding allocation; and, be it

Further Resolved, That members of such committee are hereby authorized to receive payment of travel and interim expenses and other compensation as provided by law, subject to approval by the Senate President.
