SENATE RESOLUTION 40

Designating February 27, 2023, as Human Resources Day at the Legislature.
Whereas, The global pandemic has changed the role of human resources drastically to face physical and logistical issues on how employees are managed from small businesses and municipalities to large corporations and national governments; and
Whereas, According to the Society for Human Resource Management 83 percent of employers had to adjust business practices during the pandemic and human resource professionals were able to demonstrate their skills by supporting these changes and creating an environment that supported this transition; and
Whereas, Traditionally, human resources dealt with the part of an organization or company that was responsible for hiring, firing, training, and other personnel issues; and
Whereas, Today, human resources encompass a vast area of diverse and dynamic issues that affect the everyday lives of our workforce; and
Whereas, In an effort to enhance morale and productivity, increase job retention, and help organizations improve performance results, human resource workers also help employers effectively use employee skills by providing training and development opportunities to improve those skills and increasing employees’ satisfaction with their job and working conditions; and
Whereas, In today’s economy human resources ensures that companies and organizations employ staff that have the right combination of skills and knowledge to achieve their strategic goal; therefore, be it
Resolved by the Senate:
That the Senate hereby designates February 27, 2023, as Human Resources Day at the Legislature; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Senate extends its sincere appreciation and gratitude to all human resource professionals.
