Legislative Post Audit Division Seeking Auditors

The Post Audit Division of the West Virginia Legislative Auditor's Office is accepting applications for auditor positions with a salary of $37,160. A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Business Administration is preferred. Other degrees and experience will receive consideration.

The Legislative Auditor's Office has a mission to provide meaningful and useful information to the West Virginia Legislature to assist in its policy making and to hold state government accountable to the taxpayers. Auditors for the Post Audit Division conduct performance audits of state government agencies for the West Virginia Legislature. Audits are conducted according to federal government performance auditing standards under the Generally Accepted Government Auditing Standards (GAGAS).

Auditors are responsible for learning and carrying out all tasks of a performance audit including: conducting research on the agency under audit and its authorizing statute, analyzing financial data, reviewing the auditee’s policies and procedures, interviewing state agency officials, writing letters and correspondences, documenting audit evidence, maintaining and organizing audit documentation, preparing audit findings and reports, and presenting audit reports to committees of the West Virginia Legislature.

All employees of the Legislative Auditor's Office become members of the State of West Virginia retirement system, and may select from the State's health insurance plans. In order to apply, please complete our online application.
