Delegate Moore Statement on Racing Commission's Charles Town Classic Decision

CHARLESTON, W.Va. – Delegate Riley Moore, R-Jefferson, today issued the following statement in response to the state Racing Commission’s rejection of a funding request for the Charles Town Classic.

“I’m angered at this short-sighted decision that pulls the rug out from underneath this great event,” Delegate Moore said. “The Charles Town Classic has established itself as a premier race, and has become a tremendous spectator event in our area. This decision flies in the face of our overall goal of promoting additional tourism in our state, and puts Eastern Panhandle jobs in jeopardy.

“I call on the Racing Commission to reconsider their decision, and pledge to work with my fellow Jefferson County colleagues and Gov. Jim Justice’s administration to rectify this situation,” Delegate Moore said.
