A BILL to repeal §28-5-26 of the Code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, relating to escape of convicts and rewards.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:
§1. Repeal of section relating to escape of convicts and rewards.

Section twenty-six, article five, chapter twenty-eight of the Code of West Virginia, one thousand nine hundred thirty-one, as amended, is hereby repealed.



NOTE: The purpose of this bill is to repeal the section of the West Virginia Code that authorizes wardens to offer rewards, up to $500, for the apprehension and redelivery of escaped convicts.

This bill was recommended for introduction and passage during the 2005 legislative session by the Legislative Oversight Committee on the Regional Jail and Correctional Facility Authority.
