A BILL to amend the Code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, by adding thereto a new section, designated §48-2-406, relating to authorizing certain members of the federal judiciary to perform marriages.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:

ARTICLE 2. MARRIAGES.

Part iv. Marriage Ceremony.

§48-2-406. Federal judges authorized to perform marriages.

Notwithstanding any provision of this code to the contrary, active and senior status judges appointed under Article III of the United States Constitution and federal magistrate-judges, who are residents of this state, are authorized to perform marriages in any county of this state.


 

 

NOTE:  The purpose of this bill is to allow certain members of federal judiciary to perform marriages.
